Paula Buford, TH.D. LPC
Memorial Services

I have a deep sense of calling to be with persons who are suffering. In the midst of pain, some persons and families may experience deep intimacy, honesty, joy, and love; others may be riddled with conflict and anger.

I can help you to develop a service or ritual to say “good-bye” and to celebrate the life of your loved one; this may bring you comfort for a lifetime. Through pastoral counseling, I can also be a guide and companion to you in your grief process and I can help to restore broken family relationships that may have been further damaged through bereavement.

I have had the following training and experience for this ministry:

  1. Master of Divinity (M.Div., Southwestern Seminary)

  2. Doctor of Theology (Th.D., Columbia Seminary)

  3. Clinical training in hospital chaplaincy; Emory University Hospital & Atlanta Medical Center (Atlanta, GA), Baptist Medical Center (Jacksonville, FL)

  4. Pastoral Counselor/Psychotherapist: First Baptist Church, Dalton, GA (satellite of Atlanta Medical Center), Care and Counseling Center of Georgia, Decatur, GA, currently in private practice in Decatur, GA

  5. Earthen Vessels Ministries, an art and spirituality center in my home.

  6. Leading and singing in memorial services for friends, family, church members

  7. A lifetime of participation in church choirs, and a soloist in religous and secular settings

  8. Voice lessons from Rev. Karen Shipp, minister of music at Oakhurst Baptist Church

  9. Current member at Oakhurst Baptist Church
